Paulin to miss Dutch GP

After an x-ray last Friday Yamaha Monster Energy Motocross Team's Gautier Paulin will not be participating in the Grand Prix of the Netherlands at Valkenswaard this weekend. The Frenchman will miss the third round of the FIM MX-GP World Championship after results of the hospital visit revealed that his broken left fibula is not yet strong enough to consider mounting his factory YZ250FM to make his GP debut for the team.

Paulin broke the bone in an incident while training in France a little over a week before the first round of the season three weeks ago. The injury had been responding well to acupuncture but the healing process still needs more time and the Dutch GP in the sand of Valkenswaard has come around too quickly for the 20 year old starlet.

It is disappointing news for the Grand Prix winner who had prepared hard over the winter for an earnest attempt at the MX-2 GP championship; a series in which he had finished 3rd in 2009. Paulin had taken pre-season victories in Italy and Holland on the new 2010 YZ250FM and was in good shape prior to his misfortune almost one month ago. Round four of the world championship will take place on May 8-9th at Agueda in Portugal.

"What can I say? It is obviously disappointing that I cannot ride in Valkenswaard and more importantly my dream of winning the world championship has this year gone now," he said. "There are at least three guys pushing for the title so even if one has a problem later in the season there will be two more people on his rear wheel; there will just be too much ground to make up. I will have another scan tomorrow (Tuesday) to review our plans for rehab. At the moment I cannot walk properly and I cannot cycle on the road so I am a little way from being able to ride. When I return I want to be in a condition where I can push for the podium."
